ARTIST NOTES: Sue and Leanne co-constructed this piece as a tribute to the local spiritual history of the Kaurna people. We have captured the moment Tjilbruke becomes an ibis. We have juxtaposed an ancient spiritual history of myriad generations, valuing relationships and protecting natural resources with the short term relationships of a materialistic society with its disposable resources. Both stories may end in sorrow. Sustainability is more than responsibility for the physical environment. Environmental awareness is also about custodianship of culture past and present and care-taking of the future we create.
